EJF (John) TAYLOR (1951) died in February 2025, aged 90. Very well-known in Macclesfield, a local architect – he went straight to Dobson Chapman from King’s, and later took over the firm -  John served what was then the Old Boys Association as its secretary during a period during the 1960s when it was struggling to survive, and a vital role he played. He was particularly prominent in rugby union circles, a former Chairman of Macclesfield rugby club, for whom he made his playing debut in the 1950-51 season – as it happened alongside Barry Jones, a former Chair of the Old Boys. He also served a term as President of the Cheshire RFU. (The Taylor clan has continued to be well represented at King’s since John’s days, with sons David, Robert and Iain, and two grandsons, following him).
